KAY’S FIRST EPITLE TO THE CRONE

To the Crone herself and all her loyal readers, GREETINGS !
The best laid plans of groves and crones come sometimes to no avail when winter miseries settle in, and so it was that Mary lay abed whilst the grove gathered to tend Brigit’s firey honor.
Karen was the first to arrive at the Outdoor Education Center at Glenn Helen, and had set up a beautiful altar by the time Kay arrived with firewood. Vivid clothes covered two tables, with a round table holding a place of honor for the Brigit doll. Nine tall red candles stood proudly awaiting their part in rite, and the Grove banner hung to the right of the waiting fireplace. The well and the ancestor table formed a balancing focal point on the left.
Over the next hour or so, the Crone’s elves arrived, and soon the warm scent of the fire was joined by aromas of goodies to come and snacks to appease hunger pains until the feast would begin. In all, the ritual circle numbered 12 – AC, Pam, Karen, Jimi, Dorothy, Missy, Vickie, Tom, Kim, and two visiting Glenn Helen naturalists, Amanda and Adam.
Karen had prepared a warm ritual that involved and embraced us all. The Bride arrived in glory, and Brigit’s fire was shared as each person was given a votive candle to carry away. After the singing and praise had died away and embraces were given, love-made crosses were shared by all.
Your correspondent slipped away before the meal began, warmed by the fire and the love still vibrating on the strains of “Walk With Wisdom.”
This is Kay, the Epistler, signing off and looking forward to next time……with the Crone at the keyboard.
