A Brief Outline of 6th Night Ritual

The members of the Grove arrange the Nemeton
(the Sacred Grove, represented by the Fire, the Well and the Tree.)

Opening Prayers

Members of the Grove invoke the Three Spirits of Divine Creation.

Purification

Outdwellers

An appeasement offering is made to all the Powers who might oppose or seek to harm the Grove.

Fire and Water

The company is purified by smudging and asperging.

Grove Attunement

The Senior Druid leads the congregation in a guided meditation intended to attune the company to the Earth and Sky Powers and to join the company in Spirit.
The Grove Bard sings The Grove Unity Song.

Statement of Purpose and Precedent

At High Holy Day Rites, the Senior Druid will describe the symbolism of the seasonal festival and the Patron Deities for that particular rite.

Creating the Sacred Center

Members of the Grove invoke and make offerings to the Well, the Fire and the Tree.

Opening the Gates

The Senior Druid invokes the Gatekeeper and makes an offering for safe passage.
The Three Gates are opened.

The Kindred Offerings

Members of the Grove invoke and make offerings to The Mighty Ones, the Noble Ones and the Shining Ones.

Patron Offerings

Members of the Grove invoke and make offerings to the Patron Deities of the Grove.
On High Holy Day rites, the Grove members invoke and make offering to the Patrons of that particular seasonal festival and may enact the symbology of the festival.

Praise Offerings

The congregation is invited to make offerings to any personal Deity, Ancestor or Spirit they may wish to honor.

Final Sacrifice

The Senior Druid makes an offering of Mistletoe to the Sacred Fire. The congregation is instructed to send their energy, love and devotion through the Gates to the Powers.
The Grove Bard sings the Song of Offering.

The Omen

The Grove Seer seeks an omen of return from the Powers to determine if the offerings have been accepted, and to ask the Powers to communicate any need they may have of the Grove.

The Blessing

The Senior Druid hallows the Waters of Life. (Our Grove uses Mead in our communal cup. For those who wish it, a communal cup of Spring Water is also available.)
The cup is passed through the congregation and all who wish drink to receive the Blessings of the Powers.
The Grove Bard sings the Song of Blessing.

Closing

The Senior Druid thanks all of the Powers in the reverse order they were invoked.
The Gates are closed.
The company is re-centered to a state of normal consciousness and instructed to carry the blessing into the world and into their lives.
